Announcement: 10 Sep 2009
The 30th Anniversary edition of the DIXIE DEER CLASSIC is coming out of the planning stage
now as contracts are in place and commitments have been made. The show is going to be what
everyone would expect a 30th Birthday Party to be.
We have three very special guests lined up to be at the show; Michael Waddell plus Lee and
Tiffany Lakosky will be at the show all three days. We feel very lucky in being able to
schedule both parties into the same show.
Something else that we are excited about is merging in the State Convention of the NC
Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. There annual banquet will be held on
Friday evening, and the NC State Championship Turkey Calling Contest will be held in the
Dixie Deer Classic on Saturday. This should be the first sanctioned contest
held after the nationals. The well received Call Makers Contest will be returning, with an
auction held on Sunday afternoon. The NC-NWTF banquet will be highlighted by Michael
Waddell as the key note speaker.
We have listened to our venders about the Friday schedule making for such a long day and
the show opening time is being changed from nine (9:00 AM) to eleven (11:00 AM). This will
allow venders that require a minimal amount of set up time to arrive on Friday morning and
save the cost of a motel room.
In 2009 our Friday Youth Day was very well received by the kids from different schools and
groups that attended. The preregistered groups brought us 318 to attend class in the
Oh Deer Workshops that were coordinated very well by the NC Chapter of Quality
Deer Management Association. For 2010 we are taking this program another step further. The
Youth program will carry the name Take a Walk on the WILD side and will be
centered in the Kerr Scott Building, with classes starting at 9:00 AM on Friday, with an
afternoon session starting at 1:00 PM. The rest of the Dixie Deer Classic will be open by
the time the morning classes are completed, so the groups will be able to also attend the
rest of the show. For more information about this program you can visit
www.wildlifeyouthday.org. In the Dixie Deer Classic itself we will have Outdoor
Lore special seminars/classes for the kids and beginning hunters in Building One and
Three. Look for the NC-NWTF to return with their Build-a-Call workshop for the
kids.
Thanks for your interest in the Dixie Deer Classic and visit our web site regularly for
updates.

Announcement: 19 January 2009
The management team of the Dixie Deer Classic regrets to announce that the scheduled
expansion of the show into a fourth building (Kerr Scott) must be postponed until 2010.
The economic situation that we find ourselves in has made it difficult to expand and still
put on the quality of show that our attendees are accustomed to attending. We will
continue to work toward this expansion for our 30th Anniversary show scheduled for March
5, 6, & 7, 2010.
The Bowhunting Venue will be shifted to Dorton Arena, with the 3-D Tournament, operated
for us by the NC Bowhunters Association, returning to its traditional location. The
venue will not be as stringent on clientele exhibiting there due to the Gun Sales Venue
still residing in the building. However, any exhibitor that centers his business around
archery or Bowhunting and would like to relocate to this venue, we will make room for your
exhibit space there.
The North Carolina Bowhunters Associations Banquet planned for the Kerr Scott
Building on Saturday evening March 7 at 7 PM WILL take place as scheduled. Contact NCBA at
http://www.ncbowhunter.com/BanquetTicketInfo.htm for Banquet tickets and further
information about the banquet.
